Alan E. Olsen received the Bronze Star for his service in the U.S. Army during WWII. He shared his experience with other veterans on our recent Michigan trip.

Alan E. Olsen Scholarship Fund

Alan E. Olsen has seen history with his own eyes. From the Battle of the Bulge to the fall of the Third Reich, the WWII veteran served in the U.S. Army during military conflicts now encapsulated in history books and movies.

Recent Michigan participants had the privilege of meeting Alan and hearing his stories firsthand. The 96-year-old veteran motivated much younger veterans recovering from more recent combat-related injuries—proving that time and age knows no barriers between military veterans.

Now Alan’s inspired a new Rivers of Recovery program—the Alan E. Olsen Scholarship will enable more combat veterans to experience the life-changing effects of a Rivers of Recovery trip.

Your donation to Rivers of Recovery is a gift in Alan’s name to deserving combat veterans returning from their own war-time experiences.

Plus, as a tribute to Alan, an anonymous donor will DOUBLE your contributions to the Alan E. Olsen Scholarship, up to $5,000. That means we can help TWICE as many combat veterans. You have the power to change the lives of our combat veterans, no matter how much you give.

And as a proud member of the Greatest Generation, Alan will continue to inspire other combat veterans to live free from the restrictions of physical and psychological injuries. Alan’s greatest advice applies to us all: “Everyone needs to laugh at least once a day!”

Please consider giving the gift of recovery to our deserving U.S. combat veterans by helping us support and expand Rivers of Recovery’s rehabilitation programs through the Alan E. Olsen Scholarship program.

Your generous donation will ensure that we can include as many of those service members as possible, free of charge to them, in therapeutic fishing trips.

Thank you from Alan, and from all the veterans we serve.
